Writing for Writers

Writing Forward is a web site about writing, for writers. My name is Melissa Donovan and I’m your hostess. Welcome!

My mission with Writing Forward is to create an online resource that provides news, information, tips, and insight to issues and situations that affect all kinds of writers. I’m especially committed to bringing together different writers from every field, so whether you’re a freelancer, a blogger, or a fiction or poetry writer, this is the place for you!

In addition, I want to build a community of writers in a supportive environment that is conductive to sharing experiences, increasing skill, and honing talent, because the best writers are the ones that strive to learn new things every day.

I love getting feedback, so be sure leave a comment or send me an e-mail. Let me know if you have suggestions for this blog, and feel free to tell me what you like and what’s not working for you here at Writing Forward. I welcome your input because this site is reader driven.

Your Hostess

Melissa DonovanMy name is Melissa Donovan. I was born and raised north of the Bay Area in California. I inherited a love for literature from my mom, who taught me how to read by the time I turned four years old. At age thirteen, I started penning poetry and song lyrics. Shortly thereafter, I began journaling, and a writer was born. I studied creative writing at Sonoma State University, where I earned a BA in English with a concentration in creative writing. Since then, I’ve been a technical writer, a business and sales writer, a blogger, and an article writer. As an internet enthusiast, I’m also proficient in web design and have studied it both inside and outside of academia.

When I discovered blogging, I thought it was an ideal venue for a writer. Currently, I’m a freelance writer specializing in web content and when I have time, I like to dabble in fiction and poetry. I am especially interested in using my writing skills as an advocate for animal welfare, with a focus on the No Kill movement, which seeks to end the practice of killing homeless animals in shelters. If you need a writer for an animal welfare project, please feel free to get in touch with me. I’d love to work with you!

You can learn more about the kind of writing and editing services that I offer by clicking on the Services link in the menu.

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy Writing Forward!
