Stumbling December

January 9, 2008 · Written by Melissa Donovan

Last month, I tried to show my appreciation to the Writing Forward readers by giving the StumbleUpon thumbs up to blog posts that linked to Writing Forward, as well as the blogs belonging to just about everyone who left a comment during the month of November (see the post Stumbling November for details). I’m going to do more of the same now for the month of December, with a few changes.

First, a special thanks for all of the links to Writing Forward throughout the final month of 2007. This little blog appeared in a lot of link lists, and “The 22 Best Writing Tips Ever” continued to be reposted and excerpted throughout the month. I stumbled every post that linked in, and every site that added Writing Forward to its blogroll. I can’t list them all here, but I’d like to point out a few which stood out:

December was a good month for comments here at Writing Forward. My plan was to stumble the top ten commentators, but there were a few ties, so we have eighteen instead. Top Commentators, your sites have been Stumbled!

Wait! You stumbled my blog last month!

If you were a commentator in November, your blog was already stumbled. StumbleUpon doesn’t let you like a site twice. So, if you were also a November commentator, I chose a post on your site which I enjoyed, and stumbled it. There will be an even better prize next month…

More Than a Stumble

Next month, giving back is going to be a bit different. I’ll continue to stumble ANY post that links to Writing Forward, but those posts that go beyond link love listings and excerpts will get a little extra thanks. Plus, next month I’ll be singling out only the top five commentators with something more than a stumble…

Thanks, Melissa. Is it just me, or did that month sort of fly by?

  2. Deb on January 9th, 2008 1:43 pm

Thanks. I agree with Lorna that December just flew by.

It’s not just you, Lorna, I blinked and it was gone too. It’s been a busy month I guess. January is already almost half over too.

Thank you so much for the stumble love and links, Melissa! I always love it here and you provide so many wonderful resources for writers that are link worthy.

I’m looking forward to what’s coming up next in January and the rest of 2008. :-)

    Wow Melissa!

Thank so much. First, I get great advice from you and, second, you help me out with a Stumble. Anything I can do for you?

    Cheers,.
    Kim

Wow - that is very, very cool of you. I can honestly say that Stumbled Upon gives us a good deal of traffic, so I’m thankful. (I haven’t figured out Digg yet. It’ll come.)

You can bet there’ll be links to your site in the coming weeks - both Harry and I like the content you post very much. Plus, we just like you. Oh wait, we already said that today. Twice doesn’t count.

What an awesome post, Melissa! Thanks so much for the links and the stumble!

I agree with the others: your site is amazing and so are you!

    Smiles,
    Michele
